Explore with us the beauty of this tropical island in Caribbean paradise, home to fun-loving people! The coastal town of  Cabarete is a melting pot of European and Dominican culture. Visitors and also residents have been always attracted to the area by the natural beauty, incredible weather and seemingly endless options for action and water sports.

Playa Encuentro, where our surf lessons take place, is the most popular surf spot and is located in between the two cities of Cabarete and Sosua and approximately 10 miles west of the Puerto Plata International Airport.  This place is very relaxed. Friendly people will welcome you into their surfers family. The lack of crowds is one of the best reasons to surf on this spot.  With mostly European and Canadian visitors, the Dominican Republic remains relatively unknown to the general surfing population. The spot is suited for all levels and has some different breaks.

Atmosphere is really good and locals are friendly. There are several small bars right at the spot offering delicious cocktails made of Caribbean rum, which is very cheap here but high quality. Be sure to be there during their happy hours!

If you are not a fan of wearing a wetsuit, don’t worry! The country flaunts an average water temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit) so there is no need whatsoever for a wetsuit. The air temperature is on average in the high 20’s Celsius (80 degrees Farenheit) and the sun is almost always shining.

Still hesitating? Check out the video below made by our friend and talented cameraman Michael Sroubek who filmed his stay at our camp. For more info about our surf packages and available dates, go to this page
